ABOUT THE ARTIST
Barbara Arnold's work has focused in recent years on environmental concerns. Her paintings are designed to be beautiful to look at, yet also to bring attention to issues that threaten our world.
Her current paintings use encaustic medium, a process involving painting heated beeswax onto a rigid wood panel. The application of many layers of encaustic medium produce a luminous depth of field, and her use of heavily pigmented paint gives the work an intense vibrancy.
Arnold lives in Niwot, Colorado, just outside of Boulder, with her husband and three children. She graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis where she studied Painting as well as Comparative Arts and Literature.
